Minors: Computer Science, Communication and Culture
Best of Bloomington: All the diverse groups of people combined in one place
The interdisciplinary options provided by SoIC were the main draw for Allie Quinatno. She says the supportive culture and the flexibility of the degree have assured her that informatics was the right choice for her.
Though she is still undecided about her ideal career, Allie’s internship success and extracurricular involvement have set her up for success. She has been involved in Undergraduate Women in Computing and the Informatics and Computing Consulting Association. She was also a team leader for the ServeIT non-profit clinic. Allie has completed a full-time internship in Cigna’s Technology Early Career Development Program and will move to Chicago after graduation to become a consultant for a global technology consulting company.
She’s loved her time in Bloomington, but was excited about the opportunity to expand her horizons and spent a semester studying abroad in Thailand, where she is learning about the different environmental and socio-economic issues that rural communities in Thailand are facing.
Allie credits SoIC for helping her grow and become the person she is today. “So many people in SoIC have left lasting impressions on me. Everyone always greets me with a smile and is so encouraging. Their attitudes rub off on me and lead by example,” she says.
