Working with technology and using it to help others has always been Deona’s goal. By pursuing a degree in Informatics, she is well on her way to accomplishing it. “I like how the program allows you to apply technology to a specialty of your choice. It lets one expand their talents even further. There are no boundaries with this degree,” she says.
Deona also loves the community feel of SoIC and values all of the opportunities to get involved that the School provides.
Williams is the webmaster for Chi Alpha Epsilon Honor Society. She served on the advisory board for a new organization, Women Empowering Success in Technology (WESit), and was an intern withServeIT, a community IT clinic housed in SoIC, and has interned with the Target Corporation. “The culture was the best thing about working with Target,” she says. “Also, the way I learned so much in such a short amount of time both professionally and personally.”
She is excited to have accepted an offer to return to Target for full-time employment after graduation.
She advises anyone considering a degree from SoIC to explore all of the possibilities and opportunities the School offers because it can help them apply technology to anything they love to do.
