The School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering is the first of its kind and among the largest in the country. Its mission is to excel and lead in education, research, and outreach spanning and integrating the full
breadth of computing, information technology, and modern engineering. It includes computer science, informatics, intelligent systems engineering, and information and library science, with more than 110 tenure-line faculty, 1,200 graduate students, and 1,900 undergraduate majors on the Bloomington campus. It offers Ph.D.s in computer science, informatics, intelligent systems engineering, and information science.
