SLIS faculty member Katy Börner displayed her "Places and Spaces: Mapping Science" exhibit and gave a presentation at "Designing Cyberinfrastructure to Enable US–China Collaboration in Tobacco Research," a conference held in Beijing, China, March 27-29, 2008.
Börner presented about "ongoing efforts to develop cyberinfrastructure in the area of tobacco research and opportunities to use cyberinfrastructure tools to overcome challenges and hurdles for geographically distributed scientific collaboration," according to the conference agenda. The "Places & Spaces" exhibit, which demonstrates the power of maps to aid in the understanding of complex information spaces, was displayed during an interactive poster session at the conference.
