Excerpt from the Workshop Announcement:
Background and Objective
“There is a growing need for evidence-based policy making for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) and various efforts involving policy-makers, academia, and statistical agencies have been undertaken in many countries. One of leading cases is the U.S.A’s recent efforts towards the development of “Science” of science policy: the coordinated efforts of Science of Science Policy (SoSP) Interagency Task Group and NSF Science and Science and Innovation Policy (SciSIP) program.
In March 2009, JST-CRDS held an international workshop on this issue, titled as “Evidence-based Policy Making for Science, Technology and Innovation: Developing a Measurement and Evaluation System for Innovation”, to introduce international efforts to Japan. The second international workshop to be held in March 2010 will further introduce the latest developments in the U.S.A and focus on how to produce, translate and use “evidence” for better policy making for STI. We invite distinguished speakers: researchers in this area.”
