“I’m delighted Kay has accepted this position as the associate dean for research,” said Raj Acharya, dean of SICE. “Research is the backbone of innovation, and Kay has proven to be a dedicated researcher who has a clear vision of how to provide the critical support needed for our important work. She will help set an example for her peers and the students in the school.”
Connelly has published more than 75 peer-reviewed conference and journal papers, and she has been the primary investigator or co-primary investigator on more than $3.5 million in research grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Health. She previously has served as the co-director of CLEAR Health Information, a $4 million research center funded by the Lilly Endowment, and worked for the Pervasive Technology Lab.
“I am honored to accept the position of associate dean of research and excited to have the opportunity to promote the incredible pool of talent in SICE to those within Indiana University and the world at-large,” Connelly said. “It is a vibrant time in our school, and I look forward to supporting and advocating for world-class research in the next phase of our school’s growth.”
Connelly’s responsibilities will include facilitating research at SICE and promoting SICE faculty research to other units both inside and outside IU.
Connelly earned a B.S. in Computer Science and Mathematics from IU in 1995, and she earned both her M.S. and her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois.
