As 2017 comes to a close, we reflect on a monumental year of accomplishments and developments for the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.
Twelve months ago, we didn’t exist, at least not in name. To mirror the growth of the intelligent systems engineering program and to reflect its importance to the future of the school, the School of Informatics and Computing changed its name to the School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering over the summer. SICE also saw a record-breaking 1,100 students graduate in May, and Dean Raj Acharya was joined by a host of faculty and staff during a trip to India in the fall to share the opportunities SICE offers.
Students and faculty continued to shine in 2017. They received millions of dollars in grants and multiple awards for their ground-breaking work and research. From virtual reality basketball to medical nanotechnology, SICE continues to shape the future.
It has been a great 2017, a year that was critical in our development as our influence continues to grow. Here’s a look back at some of the biggest accomplishments and moments from the year that was.
