Music Librarianship Group

The Indiana University Student Music Librarianship Group (SMLG) is comprised of students in the Music Librarianship Specialization in the Department of Information and Library Science, students in the Musicology program at the Jacobs School of Music, and members of the wider Indiana University community interested in music librarianship.

Our members, who have a wide range of interests in public and technical services librarianship, work together each semester to develop new proficiencies and expertise through a series of professional development events and activities. We also encourage our members to get involved with the Music Library Association (MLA) at the chapter and national levels as a way to further develop their skills and professional networks. Our mission is to provide our membership with opportunities to grow as emerging professionals and to connect with others who have a shared interest in music and performing arts librarianship.
