I371 Chemical Informatics I

Credits: 1

Presents basic concepts of information representation, storage, and retrieval as they pertain to chemistry. The course is designed to give an overview of the techniques that make modern chemical informatics systems work. Looks at some of the coding techniques that form the basis for chemical information retrieval by structures, nomenclature, and molecular formulas. Examines various methods of coding for visualization of chemical structures and chemical data. In addition, some of the major algorithms and techniques used in the modern pharmaceutical industry to enhance their research efforts are presented in INFO-I 371.
